About the Club

Support the Events

How do we choose the organizations we partner with?

As leaders and members of the Compassionate Entrepreneur Club, we are very intentional about the organizations we serve. It is important to us that anything we do for anybody is done in a way that honors each person’s own self-sufficiency and recognizes each person’s capability to be a leader in their own life. To put it in the negative, we do not want to encourage dependency and powerlessness. We are here to give a hand up, not a hand out, to help each person we serve reach for their highest potential.

We partner with organizations that share this vision. And in return, we feel greatly blessed with the relationships and friendships that develop!

Here are some of the organizations we have helped:

Business Loans

Leadership Center in Jinja, Uganda

This Leadership Center was launched under the direction of Tanya Holmes, and the Compassionate Entrepreneur Club’s efforts helped support this and make it happen. The goal: to teach a group of young adults the principles of leadership and entrepreneurship and ultimately to help them launch businesses that bless their community and give the ability to support themselves and their families.

In addition to helping the center get started, Compassionate Entrepreneur Club members were happy to offer two graduates business scholarships to put their ideas into action.

About Leadership Centers

Many people have asked us, what does our Leadership Education program look like?

It’s NOT your typical leadership training that you will find in the business schools. It’s not about creating extroverts to become top salesmen and developing skills to enhance their abilities to be effective leaders.

Our leadership program starts from within. It’s a journey that begins from a place where we believe everyone has unique gifts and talents to bring into this world.

A leader is not the loudest person in the room, rather it’s the person who stands for truth even if they stand alone. It’s not someone with the most followers or audience – it’s someone who has the courage to do what is right in the face of great opposition. It’s someone who knows and loves their true self and inspires others to do the same.

Our leadership program believes that every person is created in the most perfect way and that God has given each of us a mission and purpose to fulfill. By discovering our purpose, we can prepare ourselves to effectively and boldly share it with the world. This is how we bring light and goodness into this dark world. Through one good leader having the courage to define and live their mission.

If this is something that resonates with you, we pray that you will join us on this journey to inspire people to become the leaders they were born to be. We need a community of people to follow our journey so that we can help our friends in Africa believe in themselves and become the leaders God needs them to be.

When we come together with a common purpose and believe in something bigger than ourselves, that’s when we see miracles happen. That’s when mountains are moved – when the young orphan living in the slums of Uganda smiles for the first time because someone believes in him. When the teenage boy spells his name for the first time in his life. When a young girl who has survived the horrors of being trafficked believes she too can learn a new skill to help her on her way to becoming self reliant.

It doesn’t take a lot to make a big difference. Supporting the events of the Compassionate Entrepreneur Club is a small way you can begin to change countless lives.

Thank you for the difference you are making.

Sincerely,

Tanya Holmes

head of the Leadership program at Families Mentoring Families

Families Mentoring Families

Families Mentoring Families, begun in 2014 by Becky Rogers, has helped create over 100 literacy centers in Africa!

Their other areas of focus are trafficking survivor aftercare and Leadership Education Centers.

Our favorite project with Families Mentoring Families resulted in a new Literacy Center in Gayaza.  The club raised funds through events and ran a book drive to gather books. We also organized a service room at the LDSHE conference, where conference attendees were invited to help us put together books and literacy games and supplies to send over to Uganda.  One of the most rewarding things for the youth of the Compassionate Entrepreneur Club was seeing the books and supplies they put together in the hands of students there.

These supplies even ended up more places than the Gayaza Literacy Center, stocking literacy centers all over Uganda.  But Gayaza is the center that Becky Rogers calls our project, and the club members feel an ownership over this literacy center and love the leaders and the students of this place.

In fact, in spring of 2025, the club visited that literacy center and got to see and help firsthand in the “their” literacy center.

Now, the Compassionate Entrepreneur Club has provided supplies to start 5 literacy centers, and added supplies to many others.

Starfish Education Fund

Meeting Beatrice from Masaka, Uganda, and hearing her tell about her work there was a very inspiring experience.  This woman’s heart is gold, and her arms are wide open, while recognizing that one person can only do so much.  That’s why the story of the boy saving starfish on the beach, one at a time, is the guiding story of her foundation.

The Starfish Education Fund provides school fees and supplies to students and also encourages and supports vocational training, giving their recipients real marketable skills and abilities to bless their communities.

Enhance Humanity Uganda

This is the organization that inspired the Compassionate Entrepreneur Club into existence! When CEClub founder, Kenna Dyches, first heard about and reached out to Enhance Humanity Uganda, she and her students ended up creating an event to help this organization raise funds they needed for their agricultural goals.  That event, after seeing the benefit to both her students here and the students there, inspired the reflection that resulted in the creation of the Compassionate Entrepreneur Club.

The founder and director of Enhance Humanity Uganda has since launched other projects, but you can see their older facebook posts here and watch the video on this site to see the incredible vision of this learning center to see where it all began for us.  We loved our associations with the students there.  (You should see them dance!)
